beacons. The SSID isn't a security mechanism; it's a way to segment
wireless networks or radio 'service sets'.
Assuming that you're wlan is using strong auth & encryption & is firewalled
off, perhaps you can demonstrate that you have sufficient compensating
controls to offset an auditor's griping about broadcasting the SSID.

I know that turning off SSID broadcast doesn't buy you anything, but what
is the impact if it is turned off?
Client issues?
Additional packets?
Any additional security vulnerabilities?
Just trying to prepare for a debate with an auditor on the merits of
broadcast versus non-broadcast of SSIDs.
