Symantec Storage Foundation EV (SFEV) Consultant
.
Requirements
The Primary responsibilities will be to assist Client in daily operation of their day
to day support of Symantec product SFEV v6/7 (certification preferred) on Windows, Solaris, AIX and Linux solutions. The qualified resource will perform key consulting, IT architect, and Symantec platform owner roles by providing ongoing expertise for Storage Foundation product related strategic initiatives. This effort will include the following tasks:
• Monitor OS patches to be implemented by and suggest Symantec product patches that are also relevant.
• Assist with testing and deployment plans for Symantec product patches
• Assist with processes, approaches, planning for server migrations as they relate to Storage Foundation
• Consolidation of clusters
• Apply Symantec Best practices
• Provide input with upgrade strategies and consolidation of Storage
• DB2/Oracle/Siebel/Sybase/NFS/WebSphereMQ Agents support
• Install Storage Foundation product bundles on newly built systems
• Build, configure & test new VCS local and global clusters
• Assist with upgrading older versions of Storage Foundation products, including best practices, recommended processes, and any re-design or re-architecture that may be needed
• Create new volume manager objects (disk groups & volumes) as needed
• Create new file systems as needed
• Modify VCS cluster configurations to include newly created objects
• Attend meetings where advice and consulting is needed regarding VERITAS Storage Foundation products
• Provide input to design discussions for new systems or new clusters
• Install and configure management consoles for Storage Foundation and VCS
• Perform acceptance testing of Storage Foundation products on newly built systems and clusters
• Perform troubleshooting assistance with VERITAS Storage Foundation products
• Open and track support cases with Symantec Technical Support
• Create scripts to provide enhanced VCS capabilities
• Configure and test volume snapshots and file system checkpoints
• Schedule the creation of snapshots and checkpoints
• Configure and test replication with VVR
• Perform site migration & failover testing with VCS, VVR, & GCO
• Apply Maintenance Packs (patch bundles) to systems for VERITAS Storage Foundation products
• Provide weekly status reports to Client outlining:
• Program Status/Progress for SF, SFHA, SFCFS management activities and tasks
• Action Items & Next Steps relative to the SF, SFEV, SFHA, SFCFS program
• Assist client with updating general documentation related to interviews, logistics, licensing and applicable project artifacts.
