Position: Sales Engineer
Location: LA/Orange County, California, United States
Type: Permanent F/T
Closing Date: 2008-09-19
Our client is currently looking for motivated experienced network security sales engineers that are ready to take the next big step.
Job Description Summary:
Our clients technology is revolutionizing the approach for leveraging multiple security applications on a unified platform while providing economies of scale not yet seen in our industry.
Partner with a Account Managers in a pre-sales technical role forming a high performance sales team. Highlight our clients product solutions; give product presentations; conduct demonstrations while explaining features and benefits; design and consult on product configurations to meet our customer specific needs. Attend training on our clients latest technology and the latest technologies offered by our partners. Stay familiar with competing technologies and solutions is essential. Provide technical sales support and have direct account and partner responsibilities in an assigned territory or region. The selected candidate will work as a team with the Account Manager to develop sales plans and strategies as they engage new and existing sales opportunities. And lastly, become member of a larger client SE community, providing technical experiences, exchanging ideals, sharing designs, promoting innovation, and helping to solve problems across the globe.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must Haves:
A passion for the latest in security technologies
and interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills that will instill confidence to our customer audience. Quick learning skills coupled with a desire to stay abreast of current technologies are considered key candidate attributes. e across all market segments
Qualifications:
6+ years-related industry experience.
BS EE/CS or equivalent experience
Pre-Sales experience highly desired.
Direct client product experience is a plus.
Relevant experience with direct competitor solutions is desirable.
Relevant experience with our clients partner product offerings is important.

o IBM Internet Security Systems, Inc.
o Websense, Inc.
o Trend Micro
o Source Fire, Inc.
Strong knowledge of common networking/security protocols and applications such as TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, DNS, NFS
Strong knowledge of network security, network design principles, and network technologies that includes; OSI model, routing (ospf, bgp), switching, vlans, vrrp
Experience with the linux operating system and linux based applications
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Specific experience in the following; UTM, Firewall, IPsec,VPN, SSL, IDS, IPS, Content Monitoring and Filtering, Anti-spam, Anti-virus, DDOS, Radius/AAA
Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and presentation skill
Flexibility with travel
Responsibilities
Sales Engineer team member who will help drive the sales of our clients products and services while developing relationships and partnerships with our customers
Work closely with account managers throughout all stages of the sales cycle
Work effectively in a team selling environment and have a solid understanding of the strategic selling process
Serve as the technical expert on the sales team
Qualify opportunities from a technical perspective
Perform needs analysis for qualified sales opportunities. Help to create technical requirements documentation for the implementation and integration of our clients products into customer environments.
Attend customers and prospects meetings and respond to customers' technology-related questions, assess customers' needs, and make recommendations on the best product configuration/integration.
Track and record technical sales activity
Produce and/or deliver customer specific demonstrations and technical presentations
Assist as required to develop technical sections of proposals and answers to RFXs
Develop whitepapers, tech notes, and other high-level technical documentation as required
Interface closely with Product Management and Engineering within our clients company and provide feedback on competitive trends, market shifts, and customers' needs to ensure that our client continues to produce products and services that match the changing market.
Provide expert-level guidance on proper use and deployment of our clients products
Participate in "Proof of Concept", "Pilots" and "Evaluation" activities that involve the installation, customization and testing of our clients products
Drive product and feature beta testing process at customer sites.
