When are people going to become aware that the best defense against people such as our "friend" is to ensure that we invest more money into grey-hat activity. Research is the key to ensuring that we do not have to spend large sums of money trying to catch up with the malware writing community out there.

I am a student in IT security and spend a lot of my time trying to ensure that the techniques that are being developed in the cryptanalytic and malware community at present are not exploitable against current technology. Whilst I have a lot of support from my peers at the University that I attend, it is almost impossible to get the financial assistance that this sort of research requires.

As a community we need to stand up and be counted. It is time to ensure that we share these resources and come up with ways of beating these script-kiddies before they cause the sort of disturbances that they do. Let us be proud of what we are and pull out the black-hats and get ahead of the curve.
