As an alternative, you might want to try out Likewise Open (http://www.likewisesoftware.com/community; disclaimer: I work for Likewise). This is an open source, free, product that can quickly join UNIX/Linux/Mac OS X to AD with a minimum of fuss (it doesn't need any extra data in AD). We have a commercial version, too, that adds additional features but, for many folk, the free version is just fine.
